The Gonzalez Mentorship Program is dedicated to supporting the growth and development of our community’s youth by facilitating meaningful interactions that equip them with the necessary resources, connections, and guidance to pursue rewarding careers and achieve personal growth and development.

Summer 2024

The Summer 2024 Mentorship Program begins on June 4th. If you are interested in the program please contact mentoring@gocos.net

The program consists of sessions that foster mentor-mentee relationships between youth and partnering companies, creating long lasting connections and opportunities. Partner companies prepare sessions that allow mentees to share their career aspirations and introduce themselves, while the companies share comprehensive information about a variety of career opportunities and essential insights into the required education and training. In past years, the program has partnered with companies in a variety of industries, including engineering, construction management, finance, healthcare, law, fine arts, and education.

The program is based in Belleville, Illinois and the sessions occur once a week, kicking off in June and running through the entire summer. Food and transportation to and from numerous locations throughout the St. Louis region is provided. There is no cost to students, partners or hosts.

  • Program begins June 4, 2024. One day/week (Tuesday) for 6 weeks.

Students attend 9am to 3pm (Lunch and transportation provided.)

Partners will have the opportunity to present to mentees for half of one day of the seven-week program.

  • Interested students, partners and hosts can email us as at: mentoring@gocos.net to learn more about how to be involved in this year’s program. Deadline to express interest:

I learned a lot of skills that can be used in everyday life and about jobs that I didn’t know of and can now think about going into.

FOR PARTNERS & Hosts

Student participants observe and learn alongside hosts, who share their personal and professional experiences across a broad selection of career paths, highlighting the strengths, skills, and training that got them where they are today. Discussion topics cover education/training pathways, day-to-day job requirements, and how possible career paths can pivot to new opportunities.

Representatives from Engineering, Construction, Legal, Financial, National/ International Business, Marketing, Medical, and Fine Arts lead sessions that inform and highlight the myriad of ways that build a successful career path. The only commitment is your time–from a few hours to a full day, whatever your schedule permits. There is no financial obligation.

This year’s program begins June 4, 2024, one day/week (Tuesdays) for seven weeks. Partners will have the opportunity to present for half of a day out of the six-week program to join other professionals and the Gonzalez team to lead the agenda for the day. The Gonzalez team will provide assistance to partners on session activities and topics. Activities may include: Informal Presentations and Q&A, Small Group Discussions, Shadowing Opportunities with Professionals, and Facility/Site Tours. We work with partners and hosts to build an agenda that meets their needs, whether it be time constraints or location preference, while simultaneously providing the best opportunity for program participants to learn from their experience with you.

We really want more kids in the program and that takes people being willing to give up their time. At the end of the day, all these kids want is the opportunity to succeed and without programs like this they’re not really sure of how to get there.
